Organisation and procedures


Our committee

We have a committee of up to twelve volunteer members, who are elected by the NLU3A membership at our Annual General Meeting to serve for the succeeding year. A further three committee members can be co-opted. The officers – Chair, Vice Chair, Business Secretary and Treasurer – are also elected at the AGM. All committee members also act as the organisation's trustees.

Committee members, including officers, cannot serve for more than nine years at most, and the Chair and Vice Chair are limited to three years. Committee meetings are held monthly except August and December, with additional meetings where needed, and are minuted.

We are always keen to encourage NLU3A members to join the committee. Any member who wishes to consider joining is welcome to come and observe at one or more meetings, to get an idea of what's involved.

Our charitable status

NORTH LONDON U3A is registered in England as a charity, no. 1048587.

Our constitution

We are required by the charity commissioners to have a formal constitution.  This was last amended at the 2021 AGM.  You can read or download it here: Constitution-2021.
