With Ely Cathedral, independent shops around the city centre, places to relax and replenish both body and mind, there has never been a better time to enjoy this quintessentially English jewel in the heart of East Cambridgeshire.
In Ely Cathedral, discover one of the wonders of the medieval world, nestled in the unique Fenland landscape. Explore the Cathedral's rich history and architecture, enjoy panoramic views, moments of reflection and learn of the life of St Etheldreda (636-639CE Anglo Saxon princess and foundational figure in the cathedral's story).
The cost of the outing will be £51 (or £57 including the stained-glass museum) and includes a guided tour of the cathedral.
Entry to the stained-glass museum within the cathedral is another £6, but the museum is up a spiral staircase of 46 steps, so you may not want to consider it.
You can also visit Oliver Cromwell's House, entry £8: this is not included in our day's outing.
There will be a comfort stop on the outward and return journeys.
Most of you, like me, will have visited Ely before and will remember that the cathedral, its setting and nearby cafe are all delightful.
