Our planned Further Away Day trip to Polesden Lacey on 8 March unfortunately had to be cancelled at the last minute due to snow. We have now managed to re-book it for Wednesday 24 May and there are some places available for the new date.
We are visiting Polesden Lacey on the North Downs near Dorking in Surrey. Polesden Lacey is an Edwardian country house (with a regency core) bought for the society hostess and philanthropist Margaret Greville (1863–1942), and it houses her collection of painting, ceramics, silver and fine French furniture. The house has a noted winter garden (inspired by the horticulturist and garden designer Graham Stuart Thomas), formal gardens plus a large estate for those who want to explore.
Meeting at: East Finchley tube station forecourt
