0n this Further Away Day, our first stop of the day is at Amersham Old Town, a charming town straddling an unusually wide high street.  Houses date back to the 1450, and 150 of them are listed. A pleasant place for a stroll and a cup of coffee, and a chance to visit the fine church.

We soon go on to Waddesdon Manor, a beautiful French renaissance-style chateau built for Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild and family in 1874, which houses his fine art collection. The house is simply splendid, and is surrounded by a fine Victorian garden with ornate fountains, a parterre and more.  There is a choice of places to eat there, from Manor Restaurant to Stables Café.

Cost:  £56.00 per person booking, unless you are a member of the National Trust; in that case the cost is £33.00 per person booking. Click here for the booking form.

Payment:  If at all possible, please pay by bank transfer (see booking form for details).

Alternatively, you can post a cheque payable to the North London U3A with your booking form. (Bank transfer is preferred as cheques can get lost or delayed in the post.)

Please complete and return your booking form by 4 August 2025. Please indicate on it which way you have paid.

If you are a National Trust member you must bring your National Trust membership card to pay the lower rate.
