  • Spanish – Brush Up Your Spanish

    Spanish conversation with a Spanish member of U3A. For members with a good basic knowledge of Spanish, however dormant this may be. We shall concentrate on speaking and listening as this is probably the most important area to ‘revive’ but there will be some reading and basic grammar exercises. Consuelo Garcia is our teacher.     We are a small friendly group who enjoy reading novels from other cultures. The books are chosen by the members of the group in turn. We start off with tea and a chat, followed by a lively discussion of our book. Read more

  • Italian – brush up your Italian

    Have you studied Italian for a few years? Do you need a chance to use it before you lose it? We are a relaxed and informal group conversing at a fairly simple level, with the aim of becoming more confident and fluent over time. Read more

  • German Conversation

    Kaffeeklatsch. Just come and talk in German about topical subjects over a cup of coffee. Note: The meeting on 1st Thursday of the month is at at Highgate, N6 The meeting on 3rd Thursday is on Zoom and is from 9.15-10.15. Read more

  • French Literature

    We choose a book by general consensus.  Then read it in the group, about a page each.  We look words up we don’t know and discuss in French (if possible) the contents and ideas suggested by the text.  We try to read modern and classic writers.   • French Conversation – Advanced

    An opportunity to practise French, discussing issues of interest. Extracts from French articles, papers and magazines are supplied. We have two different venues - in the winter we meet in the Woodman Pub next to Highgate Tube station, and in the summer we can be found at the cafe in Highgate Wood. Read more

    Simple conversation for those who have some knowledge of French but little opportunity to practice speaking it. Read more

  • Carpe Diem (Latin)

    Learn or renew your Latin.  This is a ‘self help’,  mixed ability group enjoying discovering this classical language and its relevance to many other languages.  You would need to be at the level we are – Cambridge Book IV. Room for one or two more interested members. Read more
