We welcome you to our group.
No prior knowledge of jazz music is required to appreciate jazz. However, you will surprise yourself as to how quickly you have absorbed many interesting jazz facts.
We are an enthusiastic group that meets fortnightly in members' homes in the Finchley Central/East Finchley area, well served by buses and tubes. Our sessions are on Thursdays 10.30-12 noon, with a midway refreshment and social break.
We listen to, and learn about, a wide and varied range of jazz music including blues, Dixieland, vocal and big band. Whether you enjoy the jazz sounds of the late 19th century, the 20th century, or modern and current 21st century offerings, the Jazz Appreciation Group will interest you.
Individual members have the opportunity to provide a presentation (usually by CD or YouTube). Support is readily available for anyone wishing to give a presentation. On other occasions, members bring their CDs and select their choice of tracks to play. Members are encouraged to discuss presentation topics and music choices.
